Exploring a Unique Steam Demo: Controlling a Piece of Feces with the Goal to Reach the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is currently underway, and gamers have encountered a variety of engaging creations from small studios. Yet, one stands out for its unconventional concept. Named Unko Technica, this classic-feel side-scrolling game features a protagonist that is literally a dung striving to make its way to a toilet. As a fun fact, "Unko" means "poop."

Player controls is easy to grasp: just use a jump control. In 150 stages, encounter mini-bosses and access a shop to purchase skins for your dung hero.

Time your jumps precisely, since one mistake means restarting the level. Leap on floating orbs to hurl the poop to new heights, navigate crumbling surfaces, and touch triggers to reveal hidden paths. Earn currency for buying tougher levels as gameplay intensifies.

Graphically, the game boasts vibrant stages and catchy background music. Its minimalist visual style of morphing abstract forms may remind players of classic titles like Earthbound.

Although tough to recall previous releases where you play as a coiled turd, gaming frequently featured toilet humor. For example, in Death Stranding, you can make explosives from protagonist excrement. Titles such as Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved utilize dung as fertilizer. Unsurprisingly, this theme shows up a lot in Obsidian's role-playing game The Stick of Truth.

Regardless of its goofy premise, Unko Technica has already garnered notable recognition, such as winning at Bandai Namco's game competition in 2023. The demo is ready currently on Steam, with the final release planned to arrive on computers this November.
