Two Men Charged for Inmate Homicide of Lostprophets Singer Ian Watkins

A pair of suspects stand accused of murder after the death in prison of one-time Lostprophets vocalist and adjudicated child sex criminal Ian Watkins.

Rashid Gedel, 25, and Samuel Dodsworth, 43 have both been charged with murder and are set to face Leeds magistrates’ court on Monday morning, according to police authorities.

Watkins, forty-eight, was undergoing a 29-year incarceration at HMP Wakefield, plus an additional six years on license, after pleading guilty to multiple sexual crimes among them the effort to sexually assault an infant.

Watkins was arrested after the execution of a substance-related warrant at his Pontypridd home on 21 September 2012, when a large number of computers, mobile phones and storage devices were seized.
